The heatAlert service is for people in Sussex who could benefit from receiving alerts when hot weather events are forecast. Knowing 24 to 48 hours prior to a heatwave and when, where and how long a period of extreme hot weather is forecast will help individuals manage their health conditions, prepare by ensuring the home is cool, and to stay safe and well during the heatwave.
The service is FREE to subscribe to and open to everyone, it could be especially beneficial to older people, carers and people with respiratory and cardiovascular health conditions.

We recommend you register for heatAlerts if you:

  • Have a respiratory condition, heart or circulatory condition, or are affected extremes in temperature
  • Have young children or work in a childcare setting
  • Care for an elderly relative or friend
  • Are a health professional dealing in elderly care of respiratory conditions, or work in a GP surgery or clinic
  • Provide nursing care or work in a care home

Privacy Notice Summary:
  • Who we are: This service is run by Imperial College London on behalf of the Sussex Air Quality Partnership.
  • What we collect: The data in this form is used to run our alerting service. This includes contact details, and also optionally includes age, ethnicity and health information. All personal data is stored in our database in encypted format.
  • Who we share it with: We may pass encrypted details to an external researcher if you have selected to be contacted in the future. The researcher(s) and the research organisation will be selected by the Sussex Air Quality Partnership.
  • What are your rights? You can see and edit all your data by logging on to your account, and you can also suspend your account.

User names and passwords are case sensitive. This means the user name test1 is different to the user name Test1. Passwords must be at least 6 characters long. User names and passwords can contain the characters a-z, A-Z, 0-9, +, -, _, ., £, * and space. Any other characters e.g. ! or & will cause the user name or password to be rejected.
